Blue roses are rarely cultivated on a large scale worldwide, making them highly valuable and rare. KINJIRUSHI has successfully cultivated the natural blue rose, often referred to as the "dream flower." The Meaning of Blue Roses Dreams Come True Roses were once thought to be incapable of producing blue pigments, making the creation of blue roses considered impossible. With the birth of the blue rose, its symbolic meaning changed from "impossible" to "dreams come true."

Despite the belief that roses cannot naturally produce blue pigments, the passion of plant breeders led to the creation of the blue rose. However, due to the challenges of breeding for blue pigmentation, many blue rose varieties became highly susceptible to disease, pests, and heat, making them extremely difficult to cultivate.

Recognizing the blue rose as a new business opportunity, KINJIRUSHI applied its expertise in cultivating wasabi, a notoriously difficult crop, as well as its experience handling highly volatile and delicate aromas. Research into blue rose cultivation began in 2015. Under the guidance of Takunori Kimura, a leading expert in rose breeding, we successfully cultivated blue roses in Abashiri, Hokkaido, where the incidence of pests and diseases is lower than in Honshu.
